Commercial paint disposal

The City of Calgary holds regularly scheduled commercial paint roundups for commercial painting businesses to safely dispose of their leftover volumes of paint. See below for dates of upcoming commercial paint roundup events.

Commercial painting businesses can also contact one of the current registered paint processors in Alberta to discuss pickup of your leftover paint. Charges may apply.

Commercial volumes of paint are too large to be accepted at the household hazardous waste drop-off locations or Throw 'n' Go areas at City landfills, and will not be accepted.

The next commercial paint roundup is Tuesday, October 31 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Shepard Landfill. Commercial painting businesses can drop off their leftover volumes of commercial paint during this time.

If you are unable to participate on October 31, another commercial paint roundup event will take place at Shepard Landfill from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28.

Please be aware of the following requirements:

  • Do not bring any type of hazardous waste.
  • Only qualified paint and paint containers approved under Alberta's Paint Recycling Program are acceptable.
  • All paint containers must be sealed.
  • You will be required to unload all paint materials yourself.

Any unacceptable materials, including hazardous waste, will be returned to you. These materials are not accepted at household hazardous waste drop-off locations or the Throw 'n' Go area at Shepard Landfill. Please check the Alberta Recycling Hotline or call 1-800-463-6326 to properly dispose of these materials.
