Below is a list of services available at City landfills.

Designated materials inspections and fees

Designated Materials are readily recyclable materials that should be kept out of the landfill. City landfill staff inspect commercial vehicle loads of garbage for designated materials. Loads containing these items are subject to a higher rate to encourage recycling instead. Avoid these higher rates by removing these recyclable materials form your loads prior to arriving at the landfill.

Construction and demolition recycling

The Spyhill and East Calgary facilities accept clean, separate loads of certain recyclable materials at a reduced rate.

Commercial paint disposal

For large quantities of paint, bring to one of our Commercial Paint Roundups for safe disposal. See our schedule of dates.

Commercial clean fill disposal

Commercial customers can bring clean fill to the Spyhill and East Calgary facilities for disposal. A permit and soil analysis is required.

Commercial asbestos disposal

Asbestos can be safely disposed at the Shepard Landfill by appointment. Permit is required.

Industrial waste

Industrial waste items must be taken to the Shepard landfill for proper disposal. See the list of items accepted, what items require a permit and/or appointment.

City landfills are able to accept tires for free. For more than 12 tires, please go to the Shepard landfill.
