City of Calgary recycling programs

80/20 by 2020

We're serious about recycling and have set ambitious goals to reduce waste added to our landfills. The City of Calgary's goal is to send 80 per cent less waste to our landfills per capita in 2020 than we did in 2007. Through innovative recycling programs and organics management, we'll be able to reach our target.

Apartment and condo recycling

If you live in an apartment or condo, know your recycling options. The City is currently conducting a multi-family waste diversion engagement project to develop a cost-of-service strategy for the multi-family sector.

Green Cart Food and Yard Waste Pilot

Residents in Abbeydale, Brentwood, Cougar Ridge and Southwood are participating in a pilot where they put their food and yard waste into a green cart for collection.
