 Ceramic and porcelain

Donate it

Useable household goods like ceramic or porcelain cups, plates and bowls, and terracotta pots can be donated to various charities. Refer to Alberta's Recycling Hotline for more information.

Dispose of it safely

Ceramic and porcelain are not accepted in blue carts or at community recycling depots. Small, unusable ceramic and porcelain items should be packaged properly for disposal in your black cart.

Properly package ceramic and porcelain items by putting into a puncture-resistant, non-breakable, sealed container (i.e. plastic tub, plastic bleach bottle, milk container or pop bottle) or by wrapping it in two layers of paper and bagging them. Label as "sharps" with a permanent marker and place in your black cart.
