Compost it

You can compost kitchen scraps such as fruit and vegetable peels, egg shells, tea bags, and coffee grounds and filters in a backyard or indoor composter. You should NOT compost meat, bones, grease, fat or fatty foods like cheese, salad dressing or leftover cooking oil as they may attract pests or contribute to odour problems.

Backyard composters are available at most home improvement stores and through the Green Calgary EcoStore, located at the corner of 14th Street and 2nd Avenue NW. You can contact the EcoStore by calling 403-230-1443 ext. 222 or visit www.greencalgary.org/ecostore.
