Residents can recycle clean grocery/shopping bags, clothing/garment bags, bread bags, sandwich/lunch bags and freezer bags in their blue cart or at community recycling depots. Bundle plastic bags into one plastic bag and tie the handles closed.
If you live in an apartment, townhouse or other multi-family complex, plastic bags should be accepted in your building's recycling program.
Starting November 1, 2016, we require businesses and organizations to recycle all the materials we do at home, plus scrap metal, clear plastic film (polyethylene) and wood. For more details, please view the recycling requirements for businesses and organizations.
Tip: Not sure if your bag can be recycled? As a general rule, if your plastic stretches, it can be recycled. If it is crinkly (like a cereal or cracker bag), it should go in your black cart.
