Help employees take action against fats, oils and grease
Protect your business by teaching employees how to keep fat, oil and grease (FOG) out of the drain. Use these sheets and signs in your kitchen to remind them of what actions they can take to reduce the pressure on your grease trap or interceptor.
For more tips on how to clean, and details about our bylaw rules, including rules for food trucks, visit Fats, Oil, Grease - Food Service Establishments.

Tell employees - don't use chemicals in your traps
We prohibit the use of chemicals, enzymes and bacteria treatment to grease traps or interceptors in our
Wastewater Bylaw. This is because they only dissolve fats, oils and grease long enough to enter our sewer system.
Once there, the fats, oil and grease re-coagulate, leading to clogged pipes and sewer backups for your business or your neighbours.
