We are responsible for the design, build and repair of three water and waste water systems:
We provide safe reliable drinking water to over one million Calgarians, Airdrie and Chestermere. Two water treatment plants and a network of pipes, water mains, reservoirs and pump stations deliver water to our customers each day. Learn more about where Calgary's drinking water comes from.
Visit the water and wastewater rates section for current water rates, information on how to read your water bill and to view answers to the most common questions we receive from our customers.
The sewer system protects our health and environment by collecting and treating wastewater from homes, schools, hospitals, and businesses. Wastewater enters through sinks, toilets, bathtubs and washers, where it travels down sanitary pipes to three wastewater treatment plants. Learn more about Calgary's wastewater system.
The storm drainage system helps prevent flooding by moving rain and melted snow into the nearest river or creek with drains, manholes and pipes. The system also has dry and wet ponds to hold water during rain. Learn more about Calgary's stormwater drainage system.
Ongoing projects to improve and expand our water and waste water systems and mitigate potential flooding issues in our storm water system. This includes new projects, infrastructure upgrades, repairs and maintenance, and flood recovery projects.
Have you ever wondered how water gets from the river to your tap? Or what happens to the water that gets flushed down the drain? Now is your chance to find out by joining our water educators on a fun, interactive and informative public tour of one of our treatment plants.
