Elbow Drive drainage improvements

To alleviate localized flooding in the communities of Kingsland and Kelvin Grove, upgrades are required to existing storm drainage infrastructure. The objective of this project is to increase the level of storm drainage service in the community by upsizing two sections of storm pipe.

Project Details

  • Approximately 125 metres of 750mm (30 inch) diameter pipe will be installed at project D, and approximately 16 metres of 450mm (18 inch) diameter pipe will be installed at project N
  • Open-cut excavation will be used for this project, meaning the road will be excavated down to the pipes to complete the work
  • North Star Contracting will be completing the work on behalf of Water Services.
  • Construction is scheduled to begin in August and is expected to take approximately two weeks.

Construction impacts

  • Road closures will be required along Elbow Drive and 75 Ave S.W. to accommodate the work. Traffic accommodations and detours will be in place.
  • To minimize the impacts to traffic, work requiring the closure of Elbow Drive will take place on weekends only.
  • Lay down areas for construction equipment will be within the road right-of-way

  • Work hours are Monday – Sunday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. with work on Elbow Drive limited to weekends
