About the project
An outfall located along the west bank of the Elbow River at 25 Avenue S.W. suffered damage during the 2013 flood. This project will repair the damaged outfall and stabilize the bank in the immediate area of the outfall using riprap (large stones) to protect it from further erosion. Repairs to the outfall involve removing silt from the existing outfall apron and creating a cobble drainage channel.
Construction is expected to take one week to complete and will occur between April 18 and April 25, 2016.
Impact to citizens
Access to the construction site will be from 25 avenue S.W. Construction vehicles, equipment and a small lay-down area for supplies will occupy the riverbank adjacent to the outfall and it will be fenced off for safety.
Equipment may be stored on the street or on the river bank adjacent to the outfall. Some on-street parking may be marked as no parking during construction. No other impacts to traffic are expected. A flag person will be at the west end of the 25 avenue bridge to provide safe passage for pedestrians using the north sidewalk.
The north sidewalk along the 25 Avenue bridge will be closed. Pathway users will be detoured to teh south side of the bridge.
Work will be performed from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. for approximately one week.
Customers may also notice some noise and dust as construction material is delivered. Our contractor will abide to The City's standards for dust and noise control during the construction period. No pathway closures or detours will be required for this outfall repair.
