After the June 2013 Flood, an outfall located along the left bank of the Bow River near the intersection of Montgomery Rd NW and Montgomery Blvd NW suffered damage. This project will repair the damaged outfall and stabilize the bank in the immediate area of the outfall using riprap (large stones) to protect it from further erosion.
Repairs to the outfall involve removing the existing damaged outfall structure, installing a new precast outfall end, constructing a cobble channel and stabilizing the riverbank.
About the project
Construction fencing will be in place for the duration of this project. The construction site is located within a maintained park space. Construction is expected to take approximately one week to complete and will occur between April 22 and April 30, 2016.
Impact to citizens
Access to the construction site will be from Montgomery Rd NW. Construction vehicles, equipment and a small lay-down area for supplies will occupy the parking lane along Montgomery Blvd and the pathway east of the outfall. The affected area will be fenced off. Work will be performed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for approximately one week
A pathway closure or detour will be required for this outfall repair (see attached map)
