By contacting or contributing to a City of Calgary social media account, you agree to the following terms of use:

Our social media channels include Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, Nextdoor, Threads, YouTube and LinkedIn. In addition to these terms of use, these platforms have their own community guidelines and policies that you should familiarize yourself with.

We reserve the right to remove all spam, advertising, or comments which:

  • contain personal information;
  • violate an individual’s privacy;
  • are inaccurate;
  • are off-topic;
  • are misleading;
  • are threatening;
  • are offensive;
  • contain inappropriate conversations or dialogue;
  • contain external links;
  • are hateful and/or defamatory; or
  • are otherwise objectionable.

We reserve the right to hide or remove posts we deem inappropriate. If repeated posts of the above nature are made by any individual, we reserve the right to temporarily or permanently block that person from further activity on our page.

It is at The City of Calgary’s sole discretion which content is objectionable.

Comments are moderated by a City of Calgary representative who reserves the right to hide or remove posted content. Any moderation will be done primarily for deletion of offensive, inappropriate, or potentially defamatory material. We will take proactive measures to disable comments on specific posts to maintain a respectful dialogue and maintain a safe and positive experience for everyone involved.

Our Facebook, Twitter/X, and Instagram social media is monitored by third-party service provider Arwen – a leading provider of community management AI tools – to help ensure the interaction and engagement on our social media channels are in line with our terms of use. Any contribution to our pages on these sites will be shared with Arwen according to the terms of their privacy policy.

The information on our channels may not be used for any commercial purposes without the written consent of The City of Calgary.

Any content submitted to our social media channels is not confidential. As a result, you should never submit a comment or other content that contains confidential, private, proprietary or trade secret information, whether owned by you or someone else.

Comments or opinions expressed on social media come from members of the public and are those of their respective contributors only. The views expressed by outside contributors do not represent the views of The City of Calgary or its employees. The City of Calgary does not endorse these comments, nor is The City of Calgary responsible and we disclaim any and all liability for the content of comments.
