Corporate Tax and Regulatory Affairs

The Corporate Tax & Regulatory Affairs group has corporate responsibility for overall compliance and interpretation in the area of commodity taxes, such as federal sales and excise Ttxes, customs duties, and provincial fuel taxes. In addition, the Corporate Tax division is responsible for interpretation of corporate income tax issues specifically employees' taxable benefits, donation receipts, and Non-Resident Withholding Taxes.

Regulatory Affairs represents the interests of The City and in some cases consumers on matters before regulatory agencies such as the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (AEUB) and the Canadian Radio and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). These agencies regulate the activities of monopoly services provided by utilities.
