Summer student jobs

Students with Mayor Naheed Nenshi

Looking to gain valuable work experience?

In 2018, given the current economic climate and The City’s intentional management practices for hiring, summer student jobs will be limited.

You are encouraged to look for temporary positions at, and you may be interested in our seasonal positions. We hope to resume the summer student program and list new summer jobs in February, 2019.

Mentoring and career coaching:

In addition to the coaching received from the hiring manager, students also have the chance to participate in the Student Mentorship Program and receive further support from experienced city employees. This program provides mentees with opportunities to discuss strategies for setting and attaining career goals and manage work and life decisions.

Through conversation and the building of a relationship with their mentor, students can gain greater knowledge of career success factors and first-hand insights into working for Municipal Government.

"I loved working for The City. It fulfilled a dream of mine. I really like how diverse The City is!”  Shane Walsh, Parks.

The Youth Employment Centre (YEC)
