Calgary Corporate Challange - charity challenges

Beyond the great opportunities for collaboration and team building, the CCC’s impact on local charities is nothing short of amazing. Through the various charitable components of the Corporate Challenge, corporate Calgary – including The City – has raised over $8 million since 2000.

Roll up your sleeve for the Blood Donor Challenge

We are hoping City employees will once again roll up their sleeves and help us surpass last year’s amazing results while supporting the Canadian Blood Services. The blood donor challenge runs from April 1 – September 9.

Join the team by registering under Partners for Life – ID tracking number CITY231333. All registered donations made before September 9 count towards The City’s Corporate Challenge ranking. Of course, by giving blood, the bigger reward comes with knowing you might save a life.

The blood donor mobile clinic will be at the Municipal Building on Apr. 26 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

If you’re looking for a team builder for your work group that also helps out your community at the same time you should consider booking a group donation appointment.

Human Bonspiel

The City competed in the CCC Human Bonspiel as a kickoff for employees to start thinking about the 2017 ECC. If you’re not familiar with the Human Bonspiel event, it’s similar to curling or shuffle board but it’s played on a giant ice sheet and uses people sitting in inner tubes as the rocks (stones) that slide with a team of co-workers towards the target (button). The team who slides closest to the target wins. A portion of the entry fee paid by participants goes towards supporting KidSport Calgary.

This event took place at Olympic Plaza and the City team did great in the Bonspiel winning our qualifying heat and getting sixth place out of one hundred teams. The Mayor and few celebrities also joined in on the fun.
