Operations during potential Canada Post mail disruption

In the event of a disruption in Canada Post postal service, The City of Calgary has made the following arrangements to ensure the continuity of customer service and business operations.

Many City of Calgary services are online. Online payments are accepted for some of these services, such as parking tickets, animal licenses and home improvement project permits.

Payments can be made at most banks either in person or through the banks online or telephone banking systems for:

Transit passes and tickets


Due to a potential Canada Post strike, Calgary Transit products are temporarily unavailable on City Online. The following is a list of alternatives available to purchase Calgary Transit products while City Online is unavailable.

  • City Hall Cashiers
  • Convenience and grocery stores (look for the sign on the front entrance indicating that they sell Calgary Transit fare products)

Property and Business Assessment - Request for Information forms

If you received a notification requesting information about your property or business assessment, you can return the form to the Assessment business unit by faxing 403-268-2550 or, to make alternative arrangements for returning this necessary information, call 403-268-2888.

Quasi-Judicial Board submissions

Submissions to the Assessment Review Board (ARB), Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB) and the Licence and Community Standards Appeal Board (LCSAB) can be faxed, emailed or made in person or by courier to:

Planning & development inquiries, home improvement project permits and business licences


  • Online: You can apply and pay for home improvement project permits that might require City approvals at www.calgary.ca/myHome. You can also apply online for your business licence and related permits online at www.calgary.ca/mybusiness.

Payment of animal licences


In addition to the above payment methods:

  • Online: Submit payments at www.pets.calgary.ca
  • By phone: To obtain a new cat or dog licence by phone please call 311 from within Calgary or call 403-268-CITY (2489) from outside of Calgary.
    Payment is accepted using VISA, MasterCard or American Express credit cards. Note: If you wish to pay using a pre-paid credit card, please ask the 311 operator to transfer your call to Animal Services.

    Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Utility bill (ENMAX, Water Services, and Waste & Recycling Services)

Utility bill inquiries

For all utility account inquiries, including your current account balance, payment due date, and amount and day of last payment visit www.ENMAX.com for self-serve options.

Utility bill payment

Payments to The City for utility bills can be made at most banks and financial institutions in person, through the bank’s online or telephone banking systems, or online at www.enmax.com for ENMAX bills, depending on the method of payment. Payments can also be made at The City of Calgary Municipal Building, 800 Macleod Tr. S.E.

Copies of utility bills

Customers can sign up to access electronic copies of their utility bill at enmax.com or request a paper copy by visiting The City’s cashier on the third floor of the Calgary Municipal Building, 800 Macleod Tr. S.E., from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Calgary Parking Authority – parking permits and parking violations


Residents may continue to apply for permits by emailing cparpp@calgaryparking.com  Once processed, residents will need to pick them up at the Calgary Parking Authority office (address below). Enforcement of all parking bylaws will continue uninterrupted in all parts of the city. Vehicle disposal notices will be couriered to the last known registered owner. Parking violations can be paid:

  • Online at calgaryparking.com (for an additional charge)
  • At Calgary Parking Authority, 620 9 Ave. S.W., Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. by cheque, cash, debit or credit card.

City payments to suppliers


Call the Accounts Payable section of Finance at 403-268-2750 about outstanding payments to suppliers. Arrangements for suppliers to pick up City cheques can then be confirmed.

Note: Picture ID will be required for cheque pickup.

Public Hearing submissions


Citizen submissions concerning a matter being discussed at a Public Hearing may be hand delivered or couriered to 700 Macleod Trail S.E., Calgary, Alberta, T2G 2M3, faxed to 403-268-2362, or emailed to cityclerk@calgary.ca
