The Sept. 11, 2017, Combined Meeting of Council included:

Land Use Items:

All secondary suite applications were approved including those in the communities of Forest Lawn, Tuscany and Cougar Ridge.

All other Land Use items were approved excluding those below:

Multi Residential Redesignation Application in Sunnyside

Council gave first reading to this item.  Second and third readings were withheld pending the concurrent development permit application through the Calgary Planning Commission.

Heritage Designation of the Sevenoaks Court Site in Inglewood

Council referred this item back to Administration for re-advertising and directed Administration to return with this item to the November 6, 2017 Public Hearing Meeting of Council.

Low Density and Senior Housing Redesignation Application in Dalhaousie

Council gave first reading to this item.  Second and third readings were withheld pending the concurrent development permit application through the Calgary Planning Commission.

Rowhouse Redesignation Application in Parkdale

Council tabled this item to November 6, 2017 Public Hearing Meeting of Council to allow for further public engagement. 

Amendments to the Corporate Public Art Policy

Council approved this notice of motion and directed administration to immediately suspend further Requests for Proposals (RRPs) regarding new Public Art Design as of September 15, 2017.  Administration was directed to report back to Council no later than November 2017 on the impact of suspending all public art projects scheduled for RFPs until Q2 2018.  Administration was further directed to report back to Council through the Standing Policy on Community and Protective Services in Q1 2018 with a progress update and with recommendations on a new process.  This suspension is not meant to include significant projects currently underway such as the 17 Avenue Transit Way Project.

Independent Review of Non-Residential Assessment and Complaints

Council approved the notice of motion and directed Administration to engage a consultant to conduct an independent review of the non-residential assessment process to determine if changes could be implemented to increase fairness, transparency and equity.  Council also directed the independent review to examine non-residential assessment complain best practices, associated financial risks and applicable legislation from other jurisdictions, for the timely and equitable resolution of assessment complaints.
