The Jan. 14, 2019, Combined Meeting of Council included:

Backyard Suite Design Standards

Administration presented a report to Council recommending enhanced standards for the design of backyard suites through a combination of a design implementation guide, the Backyard Suites How-to Guide, amendments to the Policy to Guide Discretion for Secondary Suites and Backyard Suites, and supporting Land Use Bylaw updates. Three options for parking were proposed as part of this report as an amendment to this bylaw. Council adopted the proposed amendments to the Land Use Bylaw 1P2007, and gave three readings to the proposed bylaw 10P2019, and adopted the proposed amendments to the Policy to Guide Discretion for Secondary Suites and Backyard Suites. Council also supported an option for parking relaxation for both secondary suites and backyard suites based on how close the suite is to the City Centre and to frequent transit service.

Proposed Rivers District Community Revitalization Levy Bylaw Amendment

Administration presented a report to Council on the proposed Bylaw 2M2019, to amend The Rivers District Community Revitalization Levy Bylaw 27M2007. This proposed bylaw will enable Council to extend the Rivers District Community Revitalization Levy for a period of 20 years, until the end of 2047. Council gave three readings to this Bylaw and it was approved. Council also approved forwarding the proposed Bylaw 2M2019 to the Government of Alberta for Approval in accordance with Section 381.2 of the Municipal Government Act. ​​
