Advisory Committee on Accessibility Awards
Awards were presented to the Palliser Hotel, Accessible Housing’s Residential Accessible Design Program, and citizen Jim Brown
Land Use Items
Secondary suites were approved in the communities of Dalhousie, Brentwood, Silver Springs, Edgemont, and Riverbend. A suite in the community of Ranchlands was rejected.
Eau Claire Policy and Land Use Amendment
Council gave first reading to the policy and land use amendment to accommodate a mixed-use development that includes residential, commercial and retail development in Eau Claire. Council directed administration to make amendments to increase residential space, mitigate shadow impacts on the plaza, and explore integration with the future Green Line LRT.
Nose Creek, Providence and Glacier Ridge Area Structure Plans
The last three of six developer funded Area Structure Plans were presented. They were a part of a pilot project in which Council directed City staff to streamline the process of creating area structure plans, which are documents that guide development in new communities. Council amended and approved Area Structure Plans for Nose Creek, Providence and Glacier Ridge. Council directed administration to deliver a presentation on the health impact assessments approach including healthy planning principles and ramifications to a 2016 strategic meeting of council.
