The July 4-5, 2016, Combined Meeting of Council and Public Hearing included:

Ethics Advisor And Integrity Commissioner Terms Of Reference

Council unanimously adopted Terms of Reference for the Ethics Advisor and Integrity Commissioner. Procedure Protocol for the Integrity Commissioner was also adopted. The principles underlying the Terms of Reference align with Council’s commitment to ethical conduct by Council members and Council member accountability. Council has demonstrated this commitment with the creation of the Integrity and Ethics Office for The City of Calgary.

Land Use Items

Secondary Suites

A total of 15 secondary suites were approved including those in the communities of Southwood, Penbrook Meadows, Cityscape and Highland Park. Council did not approve secondary suites in Huntington Hills and Royal Oak.

Land Use Amendment - Highland Park

Council deferred a Land Use Amendment for the former Highland Golf Course to January 2017. The application proposes to redesignate the old golf course lands to a mix of multi-residential uses and mixed use along Centre Street N.

Development of the Haskayne Legacy Park

Council approved the redesignation of land that will facilitate development of the Haskayne Legacy Park. The Haskayne Legacy Park will be a new 144 hectare (356 acre) park that aims to preserve the area’s natural features and provide a range of active and passive recreational activities for Calgary area residents.

Notices of Motion

Council deferred two notices of motion to the July 25, 2016 meeting of Council. Both motions; The Secondary Suite Plebiscite and Reforming the Secondary Suite Process, pertain to secondary suites.
