Bowness Gas Plus Service Station Update
In the next few weeks, a remediation program will pilot a chemical injection program to treat the contaminated groundwater at targeted locations on the Gas Plus site. The effectiveness of the injections will be monitored until the end of the year. The injection program will be re-evaluated in early 2016. Injection wells will be installed in City owned road and lane right of ways adjacent to the Gas Plus site. Alberta Environment is also considering other access options.
Alberta Environment has requested that the City require Gas Plus to relocate its fence as it encroaches onto the City’s road and lane right of ways and impedes Alberta Environment’s ability to install injection wells. On October 2, the City issued a bylaw remedial order for Gas Plus to remedy the specified property conditions and will be addressed.
