Background
Calgary Transit conducted a major review of the above routes in order to improve efficiencies and to meet customer service goals. In February and March 2016, the new bus route proposals were shared online and at open houses. Feedback was collected from thousands of transit users and community stakeholders. Public input was incorporated in the design of the new routes.

The new bus routes are more efficient, resulting in savings that have been used to increase bus frequency and provide evening and weekend service in the affected neighbourhoods. The new routes meet ‘base levels’ of service (buses at least every 30 minutes, 15 hours a day) approximately 85% of the time. This is an improvement from the past routes, which met base level of service approximately 54% of the time.

The new routes are simple and direct. Many of the routes have upgraded service levels, meaning that buses come more frequently and/or run longer on evenings and weekends. For example, in Ward 1, there is more frequent service in Silver Springs and Scenic Acres. Service has also been increased or improved to major locations such as the Foothills Hospital, University of Calgary and northwest shopping malls.

Questions?
Customers can submit feedback online or by contacting the Calgary Transit call centre at (403) 262-1000. Calgary Transit will closely monitor the new routes in terms of ridership, reliability and route alignment. Revisions will be made where necessary.
