Ward 1 official websiteICI Bylaw Changes

Calgary City Council has approved changes to the Waste and Recycling Bylaw requiring all businesses and organizations in Calgary to recycle a specific list of materials starting November 1, 2016. The one-year lead time before the bylaw changes are enforced will give businesses and organizations time to prepare and adapt.

Effective November 1, 2016:

• Industrial, Commercial and Institutional customers must provide adequate storage and containers for the list of recyclable materials;
• February 1, 2016 commercial vehicle loads containing paper and cardboard will be subject to a higher disposal fee due to the ban on paper and cardboard. These actions are intended to encourage more recycling; and
• There will be other bylaw amendments around organics in the fall of 2016.
