Trans Canada Highway / Bowfort Road NW Interchange
Re: Construction Update #3 – Change of access to Greenwood Village
As part of this project, 83 St and Bowfort Rd NW are being reconstructed to provide safer modes of transportation (vehicle, pedestrian, cycling) for Greenwood Village residents and all users of the area.
Phase 1 of the 83 St reconstruction—from Juniper Drive to 33 Avenue NW—is scheduled to be finished by November 3. When completed, this will result in a change of how residents of Greenwood Village access their homes.
After this connection is completed, residents of Greenwood Village, when exiting or entering their community, will need to use the north section of 83 Street towards Bowness.
When Phase 2 construction begins—south of Juniper Drive—there will no longer be a connection to Bowfort Road until Phase 2 is completed. To access the Trans Canada Highway (16 Avenue), Greenwood Village residents, and other users, could use either Sarcee Trail, or Nose Hill Drive and Stoney Trail through Bowness.
Phase 2 reconstruction will also require the temporary closure of pedestrian access from Greenwood Village to Bowfort Road and the TCH (16 Avenue). The construction area will be clearly marked with signage and barricades and it is not safe for pedestrians. The entire Phase 2 area is restricted to construction personnel only.
Access to the Trans Canada Highway and Bowfort business area for pedestrians and cyclists will now be detoured along 33 Avenue NW.
This situation will remain in place until the summer of 2016 when the reconstruction of 83 Street and Bowfort Road is completed and the roadway and pathways are reopened.
