Pre-sweeping on major routes
The 2016 Spring Clean-up program will begin on April 3, 2016 and run until the beginning of June. Pre-sweeping on major routes began in March and continues as weather permits. During pre-sweeping, parking bans will take place on some roads with heavy street parking. Residents should look out for the small No Parking signs, which will be placed at least 12 hours prior to sweeping.
Once the official program begins on April 3, parking restrictions will take place throughout the city according to the street sweeping schedule.
This year's sweeping schedule will be available on this page in the coming weeks.
How you can help
Spring Cleanup is an annual street sweeping program that removes sanding materials and debris that has accumulated on roads and along major sidewalks and boulevards during the winter months. The City sweeps almost 15,000 lane kilometres of paved roads, and getting the work done is a collaborative effort. We would like to thank Calgarians for their help in moving their cars and their blue, black and green carts from city streets when sweeping is scheduled.
How to place your cart during street cleaning
During spring street cleaning in your community, place your cart on the sidewalk or grass boulevard next to the curb on the week your street is scheduled for cleaning. If your cart is picked up from a back lane, put it in the same place as normal. Make sure to leave at least one metre between the cart and surrounding objects.
