Councillor Ward Sutherland is extending his heartfelt best wishes for a speedy recovery to the two young girls injured at a level crosswalk accident in Rocky Ridge earlier this morning. Driver error is believed to be the cause of the incident, and the young driver, who remained at the scene, is naturally quite upset. He has been ticketed for his part in what happened.
The City of Calgary is reviewing the situation, which occurred near a roadside “muster point” for CBE students. Councillor Sutherland has asked the City Roads Department to assess the location, and dependent on Roads’ input, will be making recommendations to the CBE for a safer, better muster site. He has also been in contact with CBE Trustee Joyce Bowen-Eyre, as the ultimate decision for the muster point location belongs to the CBE.
In addition to the current I-Cam situated further along the Boulevard, Councillor Sutherland’s office will be investigating whether any other traffic calming solutions along this stretch of road could be implemented.
