Secondary Suites Development Permits
On 2015 July 28, Council approved Land Use Bylaw amendments that allow an 18-month exemption of the Development Permit requirement for secondary suites where they are already a permitted use. The Development Permit exemption will launch on 2015 September 1, making the approval process easier and less costly for a secondary suite in a home.
For more information or to determine if a property is a candidate for the Development Permit exemption, visit calgary.ca/secondarysuites and enter the address into the zoning tool. The City of Calgary's Planning Services Counter at (403) 268 5311 can also help answer citizen questions and determine eligibility.
