Community Traffic Safety Meeting

  • Share

Ward 10 official websiteThe City is dedicated to keeping our streets safe for users of all modes of transportation. Traffic Safety is of paramount concern to citizens, consistently appearing as a top concern in the City's Citizen Satisfaction surveys.

Councillor Ray Jones, City of Calgary Transportation department and Calgary Police Service (CPS) are hosting a Community Traffic Safety meeting:

Monday, January 23 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. at

Village Square Leisure Centre (2623 – 56 ST NE)

The meeting will give residents a place to voice their concerns and to learn how to keep Calgary's roads safe for all users. The ultimate goal of the discussion is to create a forum to raise awareness of traffic safety and for The City to take action based on citizens concerns identified.

Specific things that The City, CPS and citizens can do to improve safety will be discussed.  The Calgary Police Service relies on traffic safety requests as a key indicator of where targeted enforcement and education are needed, in order to address traffic concerns. Participants will be asked to provide their feedback about where they believe additional CPS enforcement would be beneficial in their communities.

Based on feedback from attendees, CPS will conduct additional enforcement in each ward and report-back their findings. The City’s Transportation Department will research and recommend specific engineering measures that could be applied where issues exist.

This Council initiative is part of the Safer Mobility Plan and is dedicated to keeping our transportation system safe for all users. For more information about the sessions, visit:
