Ward 10 official website

McCall Lake Golf Course will remain open for Calgarians to enjoy throughout the 2014 and 2015 golfing seasons.

McCall Lake Golf Course Community and Stakeholder Engagement

Community and stakeholder engagement on the closure and repurposing of the McCall Lake site will take place at the end of January and throughout February 2014. This will give stakeholders an opportunity to express their opinions on municipal golf sustainability and how that relates to the proposed closure and redevelopment of the McCall Lake Golf Course site.

Focus Groups (Jan. 27 – Feb. 3)

Administration, in partnership with Leger, an independent polling, research and marketing firm, will conduct seven engagement sessions with non-golfers, golfers of City-operated courses and golfers of non-City-operated courses.

Telephone Survey (Feb. 17 - March 2)

Administration is working with Leger to design and conduct a 10-minute telephone survey of 800 Calgarians on their perceptions and expectations of City of Calgary Golf Course Operations as well as their opinions on the potential closure of the McCall Lake Golf Course for redevelopment on that site. This survey is a general population survey and calls will be made randomly.

Online Weblink Survey (Feb. 17 -March 2)

An online survey will also be posted on The City’s website and will mirror the questions used in the telephone survey. This will allow for an open process of engaging citizens and golfers alike to provide their input into this important matter. This survey will be open to all stakeholders.
While my hope is to keep McCall Lake Golf Course open, I encourage Calgarians to take part in the upcoming engagement process so their preferences can be heard - Ray Jones

Open House Information Sessions (Feb. 24 – Feb. 27)

The City’s Engagement unit will host two Open House information sessions that will run alongside the Online Weblink Survey, giving attendees the opportunity to go online and provide additional input should they so choose. These Open House sessions will be advertised and are open to all stakeholders.
Information gathered during the engagement phase of the project will be provided to Council as part of the Feasibility Study.
