I am pleased to announce that the River Park, Sandy Beach and Britannia Slopes project was awarded funding through the ENMAX Legacy Parks Program, for the redevelopment and final phase of construction. This project will receive $6.9 million dollars from the fund towards this work.

The ENMAX Legacy Parks Program is a capital funding initiative that allows Council to direct a portion of the annual ENMAX dividend to The City of Calgary Parks.

Regional parks serve multiple communities, large catchment areas and tend to be multi-hour destinations for citizens. Unlike community open space, they are not acquired, funded or constructed through the development and subdivision process and thus require alternate sources of funding.

The ENMAX Legacy Parks Program has been instrumental in the acquisition, development and maintenance of a number of existing regional parks across Calgary since Council created the program in 2003.
