The City of Calgary is beginning a Transportation Corridor Study of 50th Avenue SW between Crowchild Trail and 14A Street SW. This corridor study will identify current issues and concerns with 50th Avenue SW and will provide recommendations for future improvements.
In 2009, the corridor was reclassified as a Parkway under the Calgary Transportation Plan. 50th Avenue SW does not currently meet Parkway Standards. This corridor study is to determine how 50th Avenue SW can meet the Parkway standards in the future. According to the Complete Streets Guide, a Parkway focuses on blending in with natural areas. This study will identify issues and concerns with 50th Avenue SW and provide recommendations for future improvements to better support all types of Transportation, improve the look of the corridor and create a plan for future construction.
The City is currently in Phase I of the corridor study. This means that the City is going out to the public to share information about the study and provide input into the vision for 50th Avenue SW.
