In the recent Affordable Housing Citizens Perception survey conducted by the Office of Land Servicing & Housing, 93 per cent of Calgarians said that it is important for all Calgarians, regardless of income level, to have access to rental housing that does not result in significant financial stress to their households.
•77 per cent support affordable rental housing development in all Calgary communities, including theirs.
•71 per cent support affordable rental housing being developed on their block or street.
While Calgarians see affordable housing as a positive addition to their community, they (87 per cent of Calgarians) also want to be personally informed when The City plans to develop affordable rental housing in their community.
To that end, we encourage you to review the maps and respond to a few short questions during our review period from Nov. 12-29, 2013. Your comments and input will be collected and presented in a report asking Council to endorse these processes. After that, the processes will be made available on calgary.ca and we will follow them when creating affordable housing in Calgary.
