This year’s Bike Month has more to offer than ever before!

The City is We are promoting family cycling sessions, confidence-building cycling classes, route finding resources and opportunities to join a group ride at bike festivals. And, if that isn’t enough, this year, The City has partnered with The Calgary Zoo to create Bike to the Zoo on June 29. This new event encourages Calgarians to get to the Zoo by pedalling and for those who do, they will receive either a discount on admission (for Zoo non-members) or an ice cream vouchers (for Zoo members). 

Now, in its third year,  Bike Month has expanded and celebrates cycling in Calgary through a number of bike themed events, courses and festivals. This annual tradition started after Council approved the Cycling Strategy in 2011. The goal of the Cycling Strategy is to make Calgary a bicycle-friendly city. So, whether you bike to work, wheel to school or pedal on our pathways We hope to see you enjoying Bike Month in your community and beyond.  Here’s some activities you may be interested might be interested in:

• Bike to the Zoo on June 29 and get $10 off your admission or an ice cream for Calgary Zoo members.
• Take a cycling class and increase your confidence and know the rules of the road.
• Download the iPhone City of Calgary Pathway and Bikeways Map App or find a map online.
• Ride your bike to a festival or at Cyclepalooza, a 10 day festival of group rides and events.
• Share your Bike Month fun by tweeting with #yycbikemonth or joining our online Facebook community.
