Ward 11 news: Elbow River Pedestrian Bridges Replacement

  • Share

Ward 11 official website

During the flood in June 2013, the pedestrian bridges in Rideau/Roxboro, Elbow Park and Britannia (Sandy Beach) sustained extensive damage. In September the bridges were removed, because they had become a safety hazard and were not salvageable.

The City has hired an engineering firm to create a design concept for all three replacement bridges. They are incorporating the feedback received in the online survey that was completed in September, along with ensuring that the new design adheres to today’s engineering standards. In an effort to expedite the process, all three bridges will use the same basic design concept.

In March 2014 the public will have the opportunity to view the design concept. In order to make each of the bridges unique and blend with the community, we would like your feedback on design elements like the railings, bracing shapes and colour.
