Glenmore Reservoir with raised water levels during the June 2013 flood.

Many residents of Elbow Park and Elboya were affected by the June 2013 flood. The Government of Alberta (GOA) has established a Floodway Relocation Buyout program for those who have a home in the floodway.

The deadline for Calgarians to apply for the Floodway Relocation Buyout program is August 30, 2014.  Applicants that have applied before this deadline have until September 30, 2014 to accept an offer from the Province to purchase their property at the 2013 municipal property tax assessed value. Complete details regarding the program, and frequently ask questions can be found on the GOA website, Relocating after flooding.

The GOA is responsible for all maintenance and eventual demolition or relocation of homes purchased through the program. Properties will be returned to a landscaped area once the homes are removed.
