Aquatic Centre has been undergoing renovations since August 25, 2014, and
they are now nearing completion. Provided the remainder of the construction work goes
well, the facility should open in late November.
The age and
condition of the building has led to some delays, which in turn has caused a longer than
expected renovation. At the beginning of construction damaged
flooring sub-base was discovered and this changed the scope of the work. The
old sub-base needed to be removed and replaced before new tiling could be
installed. This resulted in some revisions to the design.
As well, an
additional emergency exit was required, to ensure the safety of facility staff, meant
additional delay in the building permit application process.
forty year old facility will soon reopen, renovated and ready to continue
for your enjoyment.
