LRT stations in your area are now brighter and more energy-efficient than ever

Over the past 2 years, The City of Calgary has been working to upgrade the lighting infrastructure and design at numerous LRT stations in Calgary. So far, over 770 light fixtures across thirteen LRT stations have been replaced with energy-efficient LED lighting. These upgrades are not only more sustainable and cost-efficient, but they also help to create a brighter transit experience for Calgarians.

The full list of LRT stations that have undergone these upgrades are: Dalhousie, Brentwood, 39th Avenue, Chinook, Heritage, Southland, Anderson, Canyon Meadows, Fish Creek/Lacombe, Shawnessy, Somerset/Bridlewood, Franklin, and Whitehorn.

The LRT station lighting upgrades are a part of The City’s Sustainable Buildings Partnership Program (SBPP). The SBPP, with funding from the Alberta Government’s Municipal Sustainability Initiative, focuses on improving

the operational efficiency of existing City infrastructure and assets. The lighting upgrades also support The City of Calgary’s Sustainable Building Policy which ensures all City owned and funded facilities are designed, constructed, managed, renovated, and operated in a sustainable manner.
