As we approach the one year anniversary of the June 2013 flood there are many questions being asked about what The City is doing to prepare for the possibility of another flood this year. Over the past 11 months, City staff have been working with many partner organizations on various flood recovery and flood mitigation related projects
The City has put together three websites to address concerns and provide more information related to flood recovery, flood preparation and flood commemoration. All of these websites can also be found on the flood information webpage
. Here is a brief overview of each page:
The Flood Recovery
webpage contains information related to flood recovery projects that The City continues to work on, along with flood related maps. It also contains information that is useful for landlords and tenants that have questions related to flood recovery.
The Flood Preparation
webpage is regularly updated with information regarding what The City is doing
to prepare for the possibility of a flood, and what homeowners can do
to prepare themselves. You will also find regular updates from Water Services regarding river monitoring for the Bow and Elbow Rivers, along with information about how the current weather forecast is expected to affect these rivers.
The Flood Commemoration
webpage is your source for information regarding the 2013 Flood Commemoration Ceremony
on June 20th and Neighbour Day
on June 21st.
