Earlier this spring it was announced that the communities of Southwood and Chinook Park, Kelvin Grove and Eagle Ridge (CKE) were selected for new skateparks.

In April, The City held a number of design workshops, both city wide and community specific, over 200 people participated. These workshops helped the designers create the design concepts that were presented to the communities earlier in June.

CKE will be receiving a skate spot, a small skateable opportunity that will be located in the park at Elbow Dr and 73 Ave SW. A copy of the skate spot design concept can be found here.

Southwood will be receiving a neighbourhood skatepark; its footprint will be about the size of a tennis court and will be located next to the community hockey rink near Sackville Dr SW. A copy of the neighbourhood skatepark design concept can be found here.

The ground breaking for both of these skateparks is anticipated to begin in August 2014.
