Clear sidewalks help all Calgarians get around more safely and stay more active through winter months. However, clearing snow and ice from sidewalks can be very challenging for older adults and persons with limited mobility. They are more at risk of injuries in a fall on ice or snow.

Be a Snow Angel this winter – adopt a sidewalk to keep clear for someone in your neighbourhood.

Property owners and occupants are responsible for the complete removal of snow and ice from all sidewalks adjacent to their property within 24 hours after the snow stops falling. Help an older adult or a neighbour in need if they are unable to keep up with their shovelling.

If someone has helped clear your walk, let the City know about it and recognize your Snow Angel officially. Nominate your Snow Angel online or contact 311 to tell us your story.
