On April 22, The City will begin their annual spring street sweeping program. Through the course of the winter months, the roads maintenance crews place gravel and sand to help drivers navigate snow covered streets. All streets within Calgary are swept to clear the roads of gravel, sand and other debris.
Although every community will be swept, there will be some changes to the service this year:
• Each road will only be swept once. Requests for a second sweep will not be accepted, as crews will not be able to accommodate them. Please ensure that your vehicle is moved off-street when your neighbourhood is scheduled for street sweeping.
• Vehicles will not be towed. Cars that remain parked on roadways during scheduled street sweeping will not be towed. Debris left from parked cars and “Sweeping around” will be left behind.
• Spring clean-up activities will extend through the summer months. In past years, crews have worked overtime to complete street sweeping in time for Stampede. Due to changes in resources, crews will continue street sweeping activities after Stampede and throughout the summer months.
