As a result of the June 2013 flood, the Stanley Park Outdoor Pool facilities received extensive damage. Many of the areas within the facility were affected, from the concession area, to the pool mechanical and electrical systems, to the change rooms.
The Recreation Department and the Calgary Outdoor Swimming Pool Association (COPSA) have been working together for several months to ensure all of the proper inspections, permits and drawings have been completed so that they can begin reconstruction. Depending on the weather, they are hoping to begin reconstruction this spring.
At this time, it is uncertain whether construction will be completed in time to re-open the pool, partially or fully, for the summer 2014 swimming season.
