In the coming month, Arlington Street Investments will begin construction of The Windsor. It is
located on the southeast corner of Elbow Drive and 50 Avenue SW, and will be
comprised of retailers on the main floor and office tenants on floors 2 to 5.
As part of the developer’s ongoing commitment to the
communities of Windsor Park, Britannia and Elboya, they are using the City of
Calgary Guidelines contained within the “Practical Guide for Construction Sites in the
City of Calgary” as a way to continue their good relationship with the communities
and their direct neighbours.
Timing of Activities
Demolition of the existing buildings and installation of the
retaining wall (secant wall) for the parkade will begin on the site in
November. Excavation will commence shortly thereafter. Construction will take
approximately 24 to 36 months. A construction schedule will be communicated
once it is finalized, and will include advanced notice of significant
interruptions, for example: demolition events, shoring, excavation, etc.
Site Management and
During this time, many different trades will be visiting the
site. There will be an area for deliveries; however, at various times
deliveries may occur from different side of the site depend on materials and
access. Temporary lane closures will be obtained and traffic signage erected as
needed, with permission from The City of Calgary.
The project may require lane closures and these instances
will be communicated to the community on their primary
project sign board, positioned on the site fencing. Lane closures will be
illustrated graphically on this sign and contact names and numbers will also be
