As spring approaches, there is sometimes an increase in water main breaks due to the freeze and thaw cycle.
Depending on the severity of the leak or break, there can be a temporary disruption of water service for area residents and businesses while the problem is being investigated and repaired. In order to complete repairs, water service is often shut off.
If water service is disrupted for an extended period of time, whether it’s due to scheduled or emergency repairs, a water wagon is placed in a central location so that residents have access to water. If you are notified of a water service interruption, it is recommended that you fill your bathtub and any appropriate container with water from your tap before the water is shut off.
More information on water main breaks can be found on Calgary.ca. If you notice a water main break or a sinkhole, please phone 3-1-1 to report it!
