The 2014 spring clean-up program has begun. This annual program is an opportunity for all the salt and debris that has accumulated over the winter months to be removed from our roads. It is important that we do this for air quality as well as to protect our water.
This year the Transportation department has made a few changes to the program:
- Each road will only be swept once. Crews will not be able to accommodate Service Requests for a re-sweep (parked cars resulting in debris left behind, etc).
- Spring Clean-up activities will extend through the summer months. In past years, crews completed street sweeping in time for Stampede. Due to changes in resources, crews will continue cleaning after Stampede and through the summer months.
We are asking all Calgarians to do their part to assist the crews that are cleaning our roads by moving vehicles and carts from the road when street sweeping is scheduled in your community.
