Ward 3 News: Dandelion Control 2016

  • Share

Ward 3 official website
Spring has returned, and so have the dandelions. While managing dandelions in an environmentally responsible manner is an ongoing challenge, The City is piloting some new “green” control techniques this year. These include experimenting with different turf management techniques, testing different grass species, and trying alternative herbicides.

In 2016, The City will also be doing extra mowing of City parks and boulevards during the peak dandelion season. It is hoped that this increased level of service will help improve the appearance of our green spaces while we continue to explore dandelion management techniques.

You can learn more on "dandelions" at Dandelion Control. Results of the pilots will be brought forward in a report to City Council this October.
