Ward 4 News: Water main replacement project

​The City of Calgary, Water Resources, will be replacing a water main on Spyhill Road N.W., from Thorncliffe Drive N.W. to Buckthorn Road N.W. Inspection of this location found a risk of future water main breaks and Water Resources has decided to replace it. Replacing this section of the water main will also help ensure adequate water flow can be maintained as the population in the area grows. Water Resources has obtained North Star Contracting Inc. as the contractor for this project.

Water Service It may be necessary to interrupt water service temporarily to complete portions of the work. Should it be necessary to disrupt water service, the contractor will give prior notice of the intended disruption to all affected residents.

​During the replacement work, existing cast or ductile iron water mains will be replaced with new PVC pipe. Affected valves and hydrants will be replaced and upgraded. Any concrete (sidewalks, curbs and gutters) or asphalt that needs to be removed will be repaired to original or better condition. Please note: The length of construction can vary depending on the location of the work, condition of the soil, the condition of existing utilities, seasonal activities, weather conditions, and availability of materials.
​Schedule Construction is expected to take approximately one week to complete and will begin on Saturday August 27, 2016. Actual completion date will depend on weather conditions, but is expected to be September 5, 2016. Project information
