Ward 5 official website

It's official; multi-family recycling is coming to Calgary!

On November 4, City Council approved the Waste & Recycling Bylaw amendment. Under the Waste and Recycling Bylaw, multi-family housing (condos, townhouses, apartments, mobile home parks or any other complex with five or more units on a single parcel of land) are required to provide on-site recycling for a specific list of materials by February 1, 2016.

We heard you? Ninety-three per cent of multi-family residents said they support a city-wide recycling strategy.

There is no one-size-fits-all solution for multi-family recycling. It requires flexibility and choice, which the private sector is best able to provide. Private recyclers will provide collection and processing. The City of Calgary will provide communication, education and monitor compliance.
