Prairie Winds Park
is a regional park in the northeast quadrant of Calgary. The City opened the park in September 1990 to serve the new and growing communities being developed east of the city’s airport.
Spray Park Upgrade
The City of Calgary Parks is making some much-needed upgrades and improvements to the spray park at Prairie Winds Park. The design of the spray park is based on a grassland theme, and is the first of its kind in North America. Take a sneak peek
at the new spray park’s design.
Improvements to the spray park are identified in the Council-created Community Investment Fund
(CIF). A new spray park is required because the current one is at the end of its lifecycle and is in need of upgrades to meet accessibility standards and provincial pool and health regulations. The spray park is well-loved and well-used, and is an essential part of what makes this city great. This is why The City is moving forward with the redevelopment of the spray park this summer.
Overall Park Redevelopment Project
The City of Calgary Parks is also starting a redevelopment plan to provide much-needed upgrades and improvements for the overall park. The new spray park will be incorporated into the overall plans to be developed for the park. Information about the overall park redevelopment project and how community members, park users and other citizens can participate throughout the process will be shared in the coming weeks.
