The pedestrian bridge, stairs and ramps at Rundle CTrain station were built over 30 years ago when standards were different for accessible access to station. The access ramps at Rundle Station are very steep (11%) and the pedestrian bridge is not level with the station building. Because of their age, and for accessibility reasons, the ramps, stairs and pedestrian bridge will be replaced. The ramps will be replaced at an 8% grade and the new bridge will be level with the station building (no stairs or ramps).
The west-side ramp was closed on Monday, July 13 and the east side ramp will close Tuesday, August 4. Both ramps will remain closed until December 2015. The station, stairs and pedestrian bridge will remain open during construction.
If you are able to use the stairs, the construction will not impact you. The existing bridge and stairs will remain open while the new bridge is constructed just north of the existing bridge.
If you are unable to use the stairs
, you will not be able to access Rundle Station by CTrain during construction (July 13 to December 2015). Alternative options are available at: Calgarytransit.com/rundle
Landscaping will also be improved around the station and the project should be completed by winter 2016. To view the project details visit Calgary.ca/Rundle
